Project Akshaya
Project Akshaya, a food ration project launched in 2008, is a key initiative of the Temple to reach out to needy families. The project has been running for the past 16 years led by a dedicated team of volunteers from all walks. Temple Volunteers coordinate with agencies such as SINDA and Family Service Centres to identify needy families regardless of race or religion and work tirelessly to organise food rations monthly at the Temple for distribution. 55 needy families benefit from Project Akshaya. Distribution of provisions to needy multiracial families takes place on every third Saturday of the month at the event hall. The Temple also makes special arrangements to deliver rations to disabled individuals.
Reaching out to Needy Beneficiaries
In keeping with our tradition, the Temple provided sweets and savouries to needy beneficiaries of Project Akshaya and Lighting Hearts, Lighting Homes project during Deepavali. This gesture helped lift the spirit of our beneficiaries as they ushered in the festive occasion.
Donations towards Worthy Causes
The Temple also made specific donations to charitable causes led by Lighting Hearts, Lighting Homes (LHLH), Little India Shopkeepers Association (LISHA), Tamils Representative Council (TRC), Singapore Indian Education Trust (SIET), Jamiyah Singapore, Project Smile Limited, WINGS Counselling Centre, Ramakrishna Mission Sarada Kindergarten and Sri Mariamman Temple.
